You will need to pre-book your tickets, click on the "Book Tickets" button found at the top of this page. Booking your arrival time helps us to guarantee you the space you need for a safe and enjoyable experience. You will be emailed an order confirmation that will include your unique Booking Reference Number and a barcode that also contains this number.

Admission to the Museum is free of charge.

When you arrive on site, please take your a family to our main entrance and check in at Hangar 1,

At the Check-in desk you will find staff available if you have any questions.

Please note that the Museum opens at 10.00am. If your family arrives before this time please wait in your vehicle or by the Museum entrance until 10.00am as we cannot allow access into the Museum before this time.

If you and your family are arriving by car or motorhome you will be required to pay for parking.

The charges per vehicle including blue badge holders are:

• 0-3 Hours: £5.00 
• 3-6 Hours:  £7.00 

Payment to be made at the end of your visit, using the payment machines located in Hangar 1. Parking can also be paid for in advance by using this link.

Alternative transport: Coaches are free of charge if booked in advance and motorbikes are £5.00 for the whole day.

From October 25 2021, the Mayor of London expanded the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone to help clean up London's air. There are charges for some older cars driving into London, however The RAF Museum is not included within the expanded ULEZ zone, meaning any families coming from the North will not have to pay this charge.

You are welcome to bring your own food and have a family picnic outside in the spacious grounds.  An outdoor picnic area with seating can be found near the playground to the rear of Building 51, and an indoor area is located at the entrance to Aeronauts in Hangar 3.

The Hendon Kitchen

Our new restaurant serves hot and cold food and drink in the unique setting of a 1931 heritage building from RAF Hendon. It will cover all your families food and drink needs during your visit at the Museum. There is a large selection of grab and go sandwiches and drinks, along with a lunch menu. 

Situated between Hangar 2 and Hangar 6 and open daily from 10:00am – 5.00pm every day (4.30pm - 5.00pm takeaway service only).

The Sunderland Café

Need a cappuccino and a light snack? This is an ideal stopping point for when you and your children need a recharge. Sit under the magnificent Short Sunderland flying boat or take away to picnic outside.

Situated next to our Sunderland Flying Boat in Hangar 1 and open weekends and holidays only from 10:00am – 5:00pm (4:30pm - 5:00pm takeaway service only). The Café has seating for 30 guests.

To find the Sunderland Café, just walk through our Main Entrance and turn left. The Café is directly opposite the Sunderland Flying Boat. 

Low level barriers ensure excellent viewing of exhibits for all visitors. There are wide aisles in the hangars ensuring access for pushchairs and wheelchairs is very easy. A limited number of manual wheelchairs and motor scooters (weather permitting) are available for loan on site. We do not charge a hire fee but would appreciate if you would be kind enough to leave a donation. These are available on a first come first served basis at the Check-In desk on arrival in Hangar 1.

Unfortunately, Hangar 1 lockers are not in use at this time. 

We recommend that bags and coats are kept to a minimum and either left in your car, on the coach or carried around.

In England, face coverings are no longer required by law.

The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.

Photography, including filming, the taking of digital images and the use of flash, is permitted, but solely for private use. Please stay within the visitor route when taking photographs.

The Museum can organise tours for your family so you can enjoy learning about flying machines with your kids. Our team of volunteer guides have an interest in aviation and the RAF.

These will need to be pre-booked groups with our team and prices are variable depending on the type of tour booked. We have a number of Experience Tours which can be booked with your ticket booking or by clicking this link.

You are of course free to make your own way around the Museum.

We would be delighted to welcome your family to our Museum shop located in Hangar 1.

You will find a wide range of books, DVDs, models, prints, gifts, clothes, toys, and pocket-money souvenirs to suit any budget. 

Please can we ask that groups of no more than 10 children should visit the shop at any one time and that children are accompanied by an adult.

Yes, the RAF Museum has Public Liability Insurance of up to £5 million.
