Jet and Space Week 2025

The countdown has started, so book your visit now to join in a host of fun family activities that celebrate the RAF’s leading role in helping the U.K. and our allies to reach higher and  further,  than ever before.

Challenge your science skills, put your knowledge to the test and find out more about the universe with a wide range of family fun activities and workshops. These include cosmic robot races, space-themed musical story-telling an out of this world planetarium, aircraft access and much, much more!

Groove onto the Moon!

Brave adventurers will be transported into space, encounter aliens and embark on daring missions in this sci-fi adventure!

The RAF Museum has recruited 3 intrepid astronauts to guide visitors on a journey of friendship, teamwork and adventure. They will use live funk, jazz and rock music to tell a scintillating story that is sure to entertain all space cadets.

  • Location: Hangars 345, Dermot Boyle Wing
  • Date: Saturday 25 to Tuesday 28 October
  • Timings: 11:00am and 2:00pm 
  • Duration: 45 to 60 minutes (depends how rocky the musicians get!)
  • Tickets: £6.50 (Adults will require their own tickets and must remain with their children at all times)
  • Recommended Age: 3+

Space Odyssey Planetarium

Due to popular demand, the Space Odyssey Mobile planetarium is back at the RAF Museum this Jet and Space Week! Sit inside the spectacular Galileo Dome for a live and interactive experience which will educate and entertain visitors of all ages during a truly out of this world session.

  • Location: Hangar 1, the Sunderland Side
  • Date: Thursday 30 October to Sunday 2 November 
  • Timings: 10:30am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 2:30pm and 3:30pm 
  • Duration: 45 mins
  • Tickets: £6.50 (Adults will require their own tickets and must remain with their children at all times)
  • Recommended Age: 4+

Aircraft Access: The Jet Provost

Climb inside the cockpit of the world’s first jet basic trainer to enter service.

  • Location: Hangar 3
  • Date: Tuesday 29 & Wednesday 30 of October
  • Timings: 11:00am to 1:00pm then 2:00pm and 4:00pm 
  • Duration: 15 mins
  • Tickets: £10 (this ticket covers up to 2 visitors in the aircraft at a time)
  • Recommended Age: 8+

Robot Racing

The Dash Robots are back and ready for action, are you?

Come and drive a bot around the Hangar 6 Mezzanine and learn the basics of coding.

  • Location: Hangar 6, the first floor mezzanine
  • Date: Wednesday 29 to Friday 31 of October
  • Timings: 11:00am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm 
  • Duration: 45 mins
  • Tickets: £5 per child (Adults won’t require their own tickets but must remain with their children at all times)
  • Recommended Age: 4+

Helium Balloon Planet Spaceship Craft

Little creators will design their own planet out of a helium balloon and coloured tissue paper before adding a spaceship to navigate this world.

  • Location: Hangar 6, Learning Room 1
  • Date: Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 of October
  • Timings: 11:00am, 1:00pm and 2:30pm 
  • Duration: 45 mins
  • Tickets: £3 per child (Adults won’t require their own tickets but must remain with their children at all times)
