Flight Lab: Paper Plane Edition

Perfect for all ages, this hand-on activity lets you design, build and test your own paper planes whilst learning the principles of aerodynamics. Experiment with different designs to see whose creation flies the furthest and fastest! And remember to concentrate…there’s a prize on offer…

The Easter Egg Trail

Take off on an egg-citing adventure this Easter! Follow our special egg trail around iconic aircraft, searching for letters to crack the code!

The Pilot training Show –
This show is located in the Lecture Theatre inside the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and can be accessed via the lifts or stairs. There is space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The show may contain low or bright levels of lighting and occasional loud or sudden noises. You will be able to leave if necessary, but may not be admitted back in once the show has started. There is a quieter space in the upper level of the hangar.

The Aviation Cadets – This show is located on the lower level of the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and can be accessed via the lifts or stairs. There is space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There is a quieter space in the upper level of the hangar.

Flight Lab: Paper Plane edition – This is a timed event and planes must be created within the time span allowed. There is space to move away from the activity if needed, but let a staff member know to allow you to come back. The hangar is flat and accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooters.

Aviation Career Talks – These shows are located in the Lecture Theatre inside the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and can be accessed via the lifts or stairs. There is space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The show may contain low or bright levels of lighting and occasional loud or sudden noises. You will be able to leave if necessary, but may not be admitted back in once the show has started. There is a quieter space in the upper level of the hangar.

Runway Reflections, Selfie Station – The props are regularly inspected and sterilised with spray sanitiser. This activity will be lit specially for photos and include a backdrop to pose against. During busy periods, this can be loud. This is located on the lower level of the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and can be accessed via lifts or the stairs.

Easter Basket Make and Take – This activity is located on the Upper level of the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and can be accessed via the lifts or stairs. There is a quieter space in the upper level of the hangar. This is a timed event and will have a member of staff providing instructions and support where needed. The activity must be completed within the time frame.

The Easter Egg Trail – The Museum has ramps and lifts in place for wheelchairs and mobility scooters where needed, but is mostly flat. The trail takes you around the Visitor Centre, Test Flight and War in the Air Hangars, the National Cold War Exhibition Hangar, and Hangar 1. This activity is undertaken at your own leisure so feel free to take regular breaks and return when you’re ready to continue throughout the day. National Cold War Hangar can contain low lighting, and noises coming from exhibitions playing videos or voice overs within the hot spots. There is a quieter area within the National Cold War Exhibition hangar on the upper level.
