February Half Term 2025 – STEM Week Midlands

Come on over to the RAF Museum Midlands for some fun activities this February Half Term 2025 for STEM Week! Climb inside the Galileo Dome mobile planetarium and watch stunning films, build a Lego character and see them fall to safety with a parachute, or see if you can identify the location of hidden laboratory with our Search The Entire Museum trail. Come back to see what new activities are added closer to the time!
Planetarium
There are three different shows happening this half term. A 30-Minute show suitable for all the family including little ones, featuring Astronaut George. A 45-minute show suitable for families with children aged six and above; and a 60-minute show suitable for anyone over ten years old, featuring We Are Aliens! Due to limited space inside the dome, this is best to book in advance to guarantee your space. So climb inside the Galileo Dome and watch the amazing show.

A Volatile History of Chemistry Show
Come to our Lecture Theatre and watch a thrilling, interactive show explaining the history of chemistry! This involves lots of fun experiments, how things react with each other, with lots of information and laughs!

Search The Entire Museum trail
Professor Spark has a hidden laboratory somewhere and has threatened to unleash all the scary things they’ve been working on. We need YOU to find where the hidden lab is so we can shut it down before things get heated. Can you solve clues and puzzles throughout the Museum to help us find this hidden threat? You can prebook a booklet, or buy on the day!

Radios and More
With help from TDARs, come and learn about military-inspired communication displays including a Morse Code activity. Experience talks about taking pictures from space using a high-altitude balloon, and adventurous radio, portable operating and more! Also see an 80’s military Land Rover with a live radio, and see how important radio still is in a modern setting.

Quadcopters and More
With help from Raytheon Company, come and have a go at this free activity where you can learn to fly a quadcopter. Located in the National Cold War Exhibition hangar and there is no need to pre-book!

Flight Simulators and More
With help from GE Aerospace, come and have a go at this free activity set including flight simulators, product demonstrations and more!

Telescopes and More
With help from Shropshire Astronomical Society, come and learn with space-based tabletop activities and workshops including telescopes! Located in the Test Flight hangar, this free, fun, and interactive display will have you going cosmic! No need to book, just turn up and learn.

Lego Chutes
Build your Lego character and see if physics works by dropping them off the first floor in the National Cold War Exhibition with a parachute. You do not need to pre-book this event. Lego is always a popular activity and we are bringing it back with style to test science to its limit!
