This month’s speaker is Mr J A Benn CEng MIMechE MRAeS

An aircraft (Weapons System) never remains in the “as delivered” condition for very long. Changes are introduced for a variety of reasons though the life of the aircraft. The management of these changes (now known as Configuration Management) has a critical effect on airworthiness, operational capability and life.

For much of Mr Benn’s career he was involved in these changes (modifications) and, in the latter part of his career as the Resident Technical Officer (then Resident Project Officer) at BAe Systems, Brough, it was central to his role.

He will describe in some detail the whys and wherefores of these changes and how they were managed up to his retirement and how the system has changed up to the present day.
