Exciting science and space adventures await this February half term

Explore the exciting world of STEM at the RAF Museum Midlands this February half term! Experience explosive interactive science shows, journey through space in a mobile planetarium and take on exciting hands-on challenges! Test your skills in a flight simulator, fly a quadcopter on a mission, or build and race your own LEGO dragster powered by balloons!

From 15-23 February, the Museum will bring STEM to life with an exciting programme of shows and hands on activities, rotating throughout the half term break. Click here to see what’s on each day and plan your visit.

Step inside the mobile Planetarium and embark on an unforgettable 360° journey to the stars. Travel through the history of space exploration, from early beginnings to the Apollo programme! With three fascinating space shows to choose from, this immersive planetarium experience is suitable for aspiring astronauts of all ages. Tickets range from £5 to £7 per person, with show durations between 30-60 minutes.

Join two whacky professors in their laboratory for an explosive Science Show that will leave audiences amazed. This interactive time traveling adventure takes families on a thrilling journey through the Volatile History of Chemistry. Watch in awe as the professors bring chemistry to life with mind-boggling experiments and plenty of audience participation. It will change the way you see chemistry forever! The show lasts approximately 40 minutes and is recommended for children aged 5+. Tickets are £6 per person.

Science Show at RAF Museum Midlands

Work together as a family to crack clues and solve puzzles in the Search The Entire Museum Trail! Professor Percy has a secret hidden laboratory, and he’s threatening to unleash his mysterious experiments. The Museum needs your help to track down the hidden lab and shut it down before it’s too late! With four vast hangars to explore, can you find Professor Percy’s hidden lab in time? Trail booklets cost £3, and successful detectives will be rewarded with a Professor Percy badge.

Families can also enjoy an exciting variety of free STEM activities rotated throughout the February half term break. Design, build and race a LEGO Dragster powered by a balloon and compete in a race. Test your piloting skills by flying a quadcopter and guiding it through a course. Take control in a flight simulator and see if you have what it takes to fly an aircraft! Get creative with space-themed tabletop activities, including an exploration of telescopes. And learn about military-inspired communication displays including a Morse Code activity.
