The Cygnet was the first aircraft to be designed by Sydney Camm after he joined what was then the H.G. Hawker Engineering Company. Two were built as the company’s entries in the Air Ministry Light Aeroplane Competition of 1924, in which they performed well.
This surviving Cygnet is the first in an unbroken sequence of famous aircraft designed by, or under the leadership of, the late Sir Sydney Camm.
