Following successful trials with prototype vessel RAF 200 undertaken by Aircraftman TE Shaw (Lawrence of Arabia) in March 1931, ST 206 was ordered as one of the 104 fast
ndash; 29 knots– and successful 200 class of Seaplane Tenders. They were built by the British Power Boat Company at their Hythe shipyard on Southampton Water.

This tender served on the Yorkshire coast from 1932 and was converted for firefighting in 1942.It is displayed in the RAF Stories, The First 100 Years 1918-2018 exhibition in Hangar 1.
