RAF Museum American Foundation Spirit of the Battle of Britain Banquet
The RAF Museum American Foundation (RAFMAF) hosted a number of senior US air force personnel at its Annual Spirit of the Battle Of Britain Banquet in Washington DC in October. Two Exchange Officers of the USAF and the RAF received the 26th and 27th RAFMAF Exchange Officers’ Swords of Honour for their outstanding contribution to relations between the two air forces during the previous year.
Co-hosted by the British Embassy and run along the lines of a RAF Mess Dinner, the event was attended by senior representatives of the Washington DC diplomatic corps, senior military officers and executives from the international aerospace community. Also present were the Master Sergeants of the USAF, the RAF and US Space Operations – although known to each other this was the first time they had been together at such an event. Following the formalities of the evening the guests were entertained by the Air Men of Note, the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force.
