Food and Drink
Our onsite cafés offer a full range of drinks, snacks and food to suit every visitor.
The Sunderland Café (Hangar 1)
Tea, coffee and pastries are served all day (weekends and holidays only). Sit under the magnificent Short Sunderland flying boat or take away to picnic outside.
Hendon Kitchen
Our restaurant serves hot and cold food and drink in the unique setting of a 1931 heritage building from RAF Hendon.
Picnic Areas
Picnicking is welcomed on the grassed areas of our site. Why not borrow a parachute rug or an outdoor bean bag? An outdoor picnic area with seating can be found near the playground to the rear of Building 51, and an indoor area is located at the entrance to Aeronauts in Hangar 3.
Accessibility
The Museum offers excellent facilities, whatever your requirements. Staff are happy to assist visitors to access all areas of the Museum. For more details, please click here.
Baby Changing
Baby changing facilities are available in all hangars except Hangar 2.
Changing Places Toilet
This is located in Hangar 2, at the far end of the Gallery, next to our other toilets. For more details, please, click here.
Play
We have a themed outdoor play area for under-11s next to Hendon Kitchen.
Shop
Don’t forget to visit the Museum shop for a wide selection of gifts and souvenirs. You can also shop online from home.
Simulators
The Museum offers a range of unique hands-on experiences. Take the pilot’s seat and fly in our Hangar 1 Simulator Zone, climb aboard the Typhoon Simulator or enjoy a 4D ride with the Red Arrows both in Hangar 3. Charges apply.
Sit in a Spit
Climb inside a Spitfire Mk XVI and take the pilot’s seat to discover what it was like to fly this iconic aircraft. 11.00am – 4.00pm daily – booking on arrival is recommended. Charges apply.
